Privacy Policy

Short version: the files you open in our tools never leave your device, and we never see them. This page explains exactly what does and does not happen to your data.

1. Your files are never uploaded

Every tool on My Gadgets runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. When you select a file, it is read from your disk into your browser's memory, processed on your own device, and written straight back out as a download. There is no upload endpoint and no backend that could receive, store, or inspect it.

This means we cannot read your documents, images, audio, or video — not because we promise not to, but because they never reach us. It also means nothing you process here can be exposed by a breach of our servers.

2. No account, no personal details

You do not create an account to use My Gadgets. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or payment details, and we have no user database. The only time we receive personal information is if you choose to email us — see section 8.

3. Data stored on your own device

We use your browser's localStorage to remember two preferences, both of which stay on your device and are never transmitted anywhere:

• Your list of favorite tools
• Your light or dark theme choice

Clearing your browser's site data removes both. Nothing about the files you process is stored there.

4. Analytics

We use a privacy-respecting analytics setup to understand which tools are used and which pages are visited, so we know what to improve. It records aggregate, anonymous usage — pages viewed, approximate region, device type — and never the contents, names, or sizes of your files. We do not build user profiles and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

5. Advertising

My Gadgets is free and is funded in part by ads served through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies or use similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Ad cookies are set by Google, not by us, and we have no access to the data they collect.

6. Content delivery network

Some libraries this site depends on — the CSS framework, icon fonts, and the WebAssembly modules that power the media tools — are loaded from the public jsDelivr CDN. When your browser fetches those files, jsDelivr necessarily sees your IP address, user agent, and the file requested, as any web server does when you request a file from it. We do not control that logging. Your own files are never sent to the CDN; only the shared program code is downloaded from it.

7. External links

Pages here link out to third-party sites, including Ko-fi if you choose to support us. Once you follow such a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. We receive nothing about what you do there, and a Ko-fi donation is handled entirely by Ko-fi — we never see your payment details.

8. If you contact us

If you email mygadgetscorp@gmail.com, we receive whatever you put in that message, including your email address. We use it only to reply and to act on what you asked for, and we do not add it to any mailing list or share it.

9. Your rights under the GDPR (EU and UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, data protection law gives you the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to, and port your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time.

In practice we hold almost nothing to which those rights could attach: we operate no user accounts and we never receive your files. The lawful bases we rely on are your consent for advertising and analytics cookies, and our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and understanding aggregate usage. Where we do hold something — an email you sent us — you can exercise any of these rights by writing to mygadgetscorp@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

10. Your rights under the CCPA (California)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — all without being discriminated against for exercising them.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the third-party ad cookies described in section 5, which you can opt out of using the links there. To make any other request, email mygadgetscorp@gmail.com.

11. Children's privacy

My Gadgets is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information — realistically, only by emailing us — contact mygadgetscorp@gmail.com and we will delete it.

12. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because processing happens on your device and we store nothing, the usual risks of a data breach do not apply to the files you work with here.

13. Changes to this policy

If we add a tool or a service that changes how data is handled, we will update this page to match. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
