How to Rotate or Flip an Image

A photo that lands sideways or mirrored is a quick fix, but only if you make the change stick. Rotate vs. flip — they are not the same

• Rotate turns the whole image around its center — 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, or 180° upside down. Use it to fix a sideways or inverted photo.
• Flip mirrors the image — horizontal flip swaps left and right, vertical flip swaps top and bottom. Use it for mirror effects or to correct a shot taken through a reflection.

Rotating changes orientation; flipping reverses it like a mirror. A flipped photo of text reads backwards — a telltale sign you flipped when you meant to rotate.
